My Story
Who am I?
Hello, my name is Blake Bisaillon, and I am a freelance LGBT-friendly portrait photographer based in Columbus, Ohio. I'm a 29 year old geek with a major obsession in photography. Some of my main hobbies include Video Games, Magic The Gathering, TTRPGs like Pathfinder/D&D, Movies/Film, Anime, 3D Printing, BDSM, Drag Queens, and Cosplay!
My Background
I grew up with a pull to artistic and creative media. I was always drawing people and things around me in my free time or reading fantasy novels. I’d always focus on the composition and expression of media— especially video games. While I was in high-school, I fostered this drive by signing up for multiple art classes and ambitiously studying how to design games, run Twitch streams, and make YouTube videos. I was already hooked on making content, but I needed to hone in a direction on what really inspired me.
Fast-forward to college where I was studying Computer Science with a minor in web design, I then went on to a Game Design major and explored that avenue for a while, but I discovered that being in an office wasn’t the perfect fit for me. I was craving something with more adventure.
At this point I came into a really amazing opportunity to be a flight attendant and travel the world. That experience really helped me build on my understanding of the beauty of the world and different cultures. It also massively advanced my customer service skills and handling planning and high stress situations. I followed this path for 6 years with some amazing experiences and was able to form some strong connections around the world— as well as honing some skills in taking photos of friends and loved ones.
This had been a great improvement, but wasn’t exactly what I had been searching for. Something had been missing that would really let me itch that creative drive that I had an obsession with.
After this, I delved into the Arts with a position close to more creative expression and working with events and shows in theater. Musicals have been another one of my interests that really aligned closer to what I was wanting to do, but didn’t completely hit the target. This opportunity did, however let me study and practice improving my photography during my downtime. At this point I was able to hone my craft and eventually start my business.
Photography is the perfect culmination of my experiences and skills for my creative expression while having the adventure and flexibility to run my own business and explore my passions.
